A new solution is born

Production of the solvent isophorone starts in 1962 at the Herne (Germany) fertilizer plant of Hibernia AG.

The development of the new solvent results from our team's search for alternative ways to dispose of or recycle acetone.

Isophorone production takes place at the Hibernia plant in Herne I, known later as the Herne plant of Evonik Industries AG.

Marl for Powder Coatings

Evonik has played a major role in the development of powder coating technology from the very beginning.

Since 1972 the raw materials used by powder coating manufacturers worldwide have been produced in Marl, Germany.

Doubling capacities

By commissioning our second integrated isophorone line, we increased our production capacities of isophorone twofold.

Opening up the Americas

The commissioning of the third integrated isophorone line in Alabama, USA, enabled us to double production capacities for isophorone.

From here, we primarily serve customers and markets in both North and South America.

Intelligent engineering work converted our multi-purpose facility in Antwerp to a dedicated IPD one, significantly increasing our production capacity.
