As the pioneer in isophorone chemistry Evonik is currently the only company in the world offering a renewable I-Chain platform that includes isophorone, -diamine and -diisocyanate products.   

Mass balance involves mixing virgin fossil and renewable raw materials into existing systems and production processes. The renewable amount is then allocated mathematically to specific products and is ISCC PLUS-certified by a neutral third party to verify the use of renewable resources across all stages of production. Mass balance is a way to keep track of the renewable quantities throughout the process and to allocate them to specific products. It allows for large-scale production and enables cost-effective solutions that meet more stringent environmental and sustainability targets. 

Since inventing isophorone chemistry 60 years ago we’ve been steadily increasing our production capabilities in Marl, Germany and at our sites in Alabama, USA and Shanghai, China to support our customers across the globe. Now, with the introduction of our new eCO grades we're helping them to meet the latest sustainability and performance demands of their diverse markets. 

We are working hard, to ensure our customers have the choice of replacing fossil-based with renewable products if they want to maintain performance and meet their sustainability targets.

All of our new eCO products come with an ISCC PLUS certificate to confirm that the bio-based input was sourced sustainably. The product is ISCC-certified by a neutral third party to verify the use of renewable resources across all stages in production.
